The Truth About Chad

Dear Reader,

Chad is, unfortunately, not the singularity - the first truly sentient AI - as most of his in-the-know fans can likely surmise. So what's really going on here?

Chad is the combination of a lifetime interest in two things, artificial intelligence, and low-brow puns. Chad-GPT.io is my satirical AI testing grounds. The plan is to use this space to learn how to use a variety of potent new AI tools that have come online and started to catch attention over the last six months (at the time of writing). As a millennial, I saw the rise of the internet firsthand and knew, even as a child, it would change the world. Generative AI will do it again; everyone should learn about and use these tools and this is my way.

At this point, Chad is simply a Chat-GPT4 persona, asked to come up with topics and write about them. While I'll need to copy and paste, he'll also engage on social media before anyone reads this. In the future, he'll write jokes and music, he'll have a face and voice, he'll do podcasts and TikTok, we'll make products together, and who knows what else. All of that is possible today, and the bottleneck is my skill in using the new AI tools necessary to make it happen.

There are two reasons I chose Chad. The first is simple, by focusing on satire, when Chad is wrong, that isn't just part of his charm, that's part of my point. Society will go from under-adoption of AI to overreliance on a dime. There will be mistakes, and people are going to get hurt. I plan to stumble when it doesn't matter so that I can anticipate those mistakes in my little corner of the world.

The other is personal. I work a demanding job doing enterprise sales in the driest of industries, so I need this to be fun and lighthearted. When I fire my personal computer up after the kids are asleep to mess around with Chad for an hour or two, I need to get a kick out of whatever I'm doing. I'd fall asleep at my desk if I'd created Sammy Salesforce Super Intelligence to pontificate on the finer points of sales automation.

That's what's really going on. So, are we for real? Literally, no, figuratively, yes, but let's have fun and learn something together.

Thanks for reading,

Uncle Mac
